The fastest way to get visitors to a new website is to put its link where your customers already look: your Google Business Profile, your Instagram bio, your WhatsApp Business profile, your receipts and your front window. Most of it takes ten minutes and costs nothing.
A website without a link is a shop without a sign
Imagine a riad owner who finally launches a lovely website. Then nothing happens. Why? The site is built, but no road leads to it. Guests still find the riad through Google Maps, Instagram and WhatsApp, and none of those points to the new site.
Google, search, advertising: all of that helps later. Today the job is simpler. Put a signpost on every road your customers already walk.
Before you start: get one clean link
- Use the same address everywhere, the full one that starts with https://.
- Open it on your phone first. If it is slow or broken, fix that before you spread it.
- Send the link to yourself on WhatsApp. If it opens with one tap, it is ready.
- Keep a short, easy-to-read version for printing, like yourshop.ma.
The six places, in order of effort
| Where | What to do | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Google Business Profile | Add your website in the profile details | 5 min |
| Instagram bio | Put the link in the website field of your profile | 2 min |
| WhatsApp Business | Add the website in your business profile | 3 min |
| Receipts and invoices | Print the short address at the bottom | 10 min |
| Window and signage | A sticker with the address or a QR code | 1 day |
| Email signature and Facebook page | Add the link to your signature and page details | 5 min |
1. Google Business Profile
This is the big one. When someone searches for a business like yours, the profile is often the first thing they see, with your phone number, hours and photos. Open your profile, choose to edit it, find the website field and paste your link. Save it. Google may take a little while to show the change, so check again later.
If your profile has a section for menus, services or products, add the link there too where it fits. Not sure your profile is claimed at all? Search for your business name while signed in to the Google account you use for it, and look for the option to manage it.
2. Instagram bio
Instagram only gives you one clickable spot in your bio, so use it well. Edit your profile and fill in the website field with your link. Then write one line in the bio that tells people why to click, such as "Book a room" or "See the menu". A link with no reason is a door with no handle.
When you post something about a product, a room or a dish, say in the caption that the details are at the link in your bio. Captions themselves do not make links clickable, so the bio does the work.
3. WhatsApp Business
If you use the WhatsApp Business app, your business profile has room for a website. Open the profile settings, add your address and your link. Customers who tap your business name will see it. It is a small step that makes you look like a real, established business, which is exactly what it is.
You can also include the link in a saved reply, so that when someone asks for prices or the menu you answer in one tap instead of typing it every time.
4. Receipts, invoices and bags
Every customer who pays you is holding a piece of paper. Give it a job. Add one line at the bottom: "Our website: yourshop.ma". If your till or invoice tool allows a custom footer, it takes ten minutes. Otherwise, a small rubber stamp or sticker does the same.
5. Window, door and counter
People walk past your place all day. A clean sticker on the window with your address, or a QR code that opens your site, turns a passer-by into a visitor. Keep it big enough to read from a metre away. If you use a QR code, test it from a phone with mobile data before you print a hundred of them.
6. Everywhere else you already appear
- Your Facebook page details
- Your email signature
- Delivery apps or directories where you are listed
- Your business cards and flyers
One small habit that pays off: know where visitors came from
If you can, ask whoever manages your site to set up basic visit tracking. Then you can see which doorway sends the most people: Google, Instagram or WhatsApp. You will learn which of the six deserves more attention. Without it, you are guessing.
Common mistakes
- Different links in different places. Pick one address and stick to it.
- An old address still in the profile. Check that every link goes to the new site.
- No reason to click. Tell people what they will find.
- Never testing on a phone. Most of your visitors will come from one.
FAQ
Will adding my link to Google put me first in the results?
No. Nobody can promise a ranking. What the link does is give people who already found you a clear next step, and it helps Google understand which website belongs to your business.
Do I need a website to be on Google Maps?
No, a profile can exist without one. But a website gives a curious customer somewhere to see more than a phone number.
Which place should I do first?
Google Business Profile, then Instagram. Those two are where most new customers meet you.
How often should I check the links?
Once a month, take two minutes to tap each one from your phone. If you change your address one day, update all six places the same afternoon.
Do this now
Open your phone, open Google Business Profile, paste your link, save. Then Instagram. You will have done the two most important places in under ten minutes.
